Training Scratch with Food Interruptions

Some days Billi isn’t all that motivated to learn new words, and that’s ok! All of this is voluntary, so she can choose what she wants to participate in. ⠀

This is the first day “scratch” was introduced, and the other aspect of modeling this word comes when she scratches something. If it’s one of her scratchers then I respond with “good scratch!” “Good” is her bridge when we do positive reinforcement training so she associates it with doing the correct thing. If it’s a piece of furniture I respond with “no scratch”, which she knows means something she shouldn’t be doing. Both of these things reinforce the new word.

Billi is a female domestic shorthair, she’s 12 years old, her favorite word is mad. Inspiration from Hunger4Words (check her out on IG).
